Farmington Diner move postponed
Image Morning Sentinel | March 20, 2008

Farmington, ME
The long-awaited move of the Farmington Diner from Main Street to its new home four and a half miles away off U.S. Route 2 in Wilton has been postponed due to the weather, the owner said.

Nickerson House Movers of Kingfield had permits from Verizon, Maine State Police, the towns of Farmington and Wilton and Central Maine Power to move the building off the Rite Aid construction site at 9 a.m. Thursday.

The new time is 9 a.m. Monday, March 24.

The owner, Rachel Jackson Hodsdon, is asking the public for ideas on how to use the 30-foot long diner. She is also considering publishing a book with old photos and patrons' memories of the Farmington landmark to help raise money to refurbish the building. Her e-mail is, thefarmingtondiner@yahoo.com or write to her at Socially Important Project, P.O. Box 126, East Wilton, ME., 04234.
