The owners of the No Name Diner, 3900 New Court Ave., DeWitt, have been asking customers to help them come up with a name.
Sort of.
Several months ago, Kellie and Savas Vadekas invited customers to suggest a new name and enter it in a drawing for a prize
They've received thousands of entries, Kellie says, including We're All Family Here, New Court Family Diner, Best of Lyncourt Diner, Just Like Home Diner, Order in the Court Diner ("because we're on New Court Avenue"), Neighbors Cafe, Home Sweet Home Diner, Oompas ("I don't know where that came from") and Kellie's Corner Cafe.
How about the No Name Change Diner? The vast majority of the suggestions read "keep it the same."
Kellie and Savas opened the diner, which used to be Annamarie's, in November. They tossed several names around, and thought about naming the place after one of their children, but didn't want to cause any sibling rivalry.
Savas called it No Name from the beginning, Kellie says, and the name just stuck.
The diner is open 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday to Thursday, and Saturdays and Sundays. Hours on Friday, the only day the diner is open for dinner, are 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
House specialties include pancakes, waffles, frittatas ("they're HUGE," Kellie says) and Savas' Greek omelets made with feta cheese, spinach and tomato.
The contest, meanwhile, continues through Sept. 1. Even if the name stays the same, one name will be drawn from the ballot box. The winner will receive two nights at Turning Stone Resort and Casino, $200 spending money and six meals (two breakfasts, two lunches and two dinners) at the diner.
